Dimensional verification
The most visible inspection step is dimensional — outer diameter, wall thickness, bend radius and overall length checked against drawing tolerances using calipers, go/no-go gauges, or coordinate measuring equipment for tighter-tolerance parts. This confirms the part will physically fit and function in the customer's assembly, but it's only the starting point.
Leak and pressure testing
Because these parts carry refrigerant under pressure, every brazed assembly is tested for leak-tightness — commonly with pressurised air or nitrogen and a submersion or bubble test, and with helium leak detection for assemblies where even a very small leak rate is unacceptable. This step catches porosity or incomplete brazing that a visual inspection alone would miss.
Visual and metallurgical checks
Brazed joints are visually inspected for proper fillet formation, discoloration from overheating, and flux residue that could interfere with the joint or contaminate the refrigerant circuit later. On a sampling basis, joints may also be cross-sectioned to verify braze penetration — a check that can't be done non-destructively but confirms the process parameters are producing sound joints across a production run.
Documentation and traceability
For OEM customers, inspection isn't complete until it's recorded. Batch test records, material certificates and, where required, first-article inspection reports give the customer a paper trail back to the raw material and the specific process run — which matters if a field issue ever needs to be traced back to its source.
