Domestic demand is the primary driver

Rising incomes, urbanisation and longer, hotter summers have pushed room air conditioner and commercial cooling demand up sharply over the past several years, and that growth is expected to continue. That domestic base gives component manufacturers a large home market to build scale on, independent of export orders.

Global supply-chain diversification

International OEMs looking to reduce concentration risk in their supply chains have been qualifying manufacturing capacity in India alongside existing sources, a trend that's brought more scrutiny — and more investment — into Indian component manufacturers' quality systems and production capacity over the last few years.

Refrigerant transition is reshaping component specs

The industry-wide shift away from high-GWP refrigerants toward lower-GWP alternatives is changing component requirements — different refrigerants can mean different pressure ratings, compatible materials, and sometimes different tube wall thickness specifications. Manufacturers that can adapt tooling and process parameters to these newer refrigerant classes are better positioned as OEMs update their platforms.

What this means for component suppliers

For copper tube and component manufacturers specifically, the near-term picture involves scaling production capacity, tightening quality systems to meet the expectations of larger OEM customers, and building the flexibility to support a wider range of specifications as refrigerant and efficiency standards continue to evolve. The manufacturers that treat these as core investments — rather than one-off responses to a single customer's requirements — are the ones best placed to grow with the industry.
